Lab & Healthcare Spill Kits

These biohazard spill kits have been designed specifically for the health care industry and for any liquids that may be commonly spilled in medical facilities or laboratories.

Description

Wholesale Safety Storage Australia (WSSA) supply spill kits for labs and healthcare that are specifically designed for the healthcare industry and for any liquids that may commonly be spilled in laboratories or medical facilities.

Spill kits for lab and healthcare have been designed to specifically address spills in laboratories or medical facilities. Such spills occurring in the healthcare industry may include body fluids, biohazard, cytotoxic, or mercury spills.

Due to their specific nature, healthcare spill kits are usually smaller than their industrial counterparts. Common lab spills such as hydrofluoric acid or mercury often require a specialised spill response. Any other chemicals in a lab setting can be cleaned safely with a regular hazchem spill kit. However, it is always recommended to check your Safety Data Sheet in handling these spilt chemicals.

Each laboratory is unique and uses a unique composition of chemicals, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in various states. Therefore, laboratories handling these chemicals as well as bio-hazardous materials should have the appropriate supplies and equipment on hand for managing accidental spills involving such chemicals and materials.

Spill kits are containers equipped with equipment used to clean up hazardous materials and chemicals spilled. A spill kit is a set of well-organised equipment that has been specifically designed to deal with cleaning up substances, render it harmless, and to dispose of it safely.

20 Litre Biohazard Response Spill Kit

Our 20 litre biohazard spill kit is an ideal solution for small spills in hospitals, shopping centres, service stations, workshops, schools, elderly care facilities, warehouses, factories – any public area.

Our Biohazard Spill kits are designed to absorb bodily fluid spills as well as a host of unknown small liquid spills. Included in this biohazard spill kit is a 5 kg container of encapsulating powder that turns the spill into a solidified mass when mixed with water.

This then makes it easy for the responder to efficiently and quickly retrieve the spill and dispose of it accordingly and safely by using the included plastic scoop and pan for easy placement into the included disposal bag.

After disposal of the spilled liquids, there is a need to sanitise and clean up the spill area. Included is a 50 mL Aussan organic concentrate that helps reduce any unpleasant smells.

Also supplied in this Biohazard Response Spill Kit are safety accessories such as apron, face mask, latex gloves, and labelled ‘infectious waste’ disposal bags.

This spill kit is clearly labelled and includes operating instructions and is supplied in a 20 litre plastic pail with a resealable lid.

10 Small Spills Mercury Spill Response

Mercury is a heavy silvery-white metal at normal temperatures. Mercury vaporises at normal room temperatures, which creates a risk of mercury exposure through inhalation.

This risk is increased as the temperature increases. This is one of the prime reasons why it is important to clean up a mercury spill immediately.

Our mercury spill kit is designed to clean up to 10 small spills. This kit is suitable for hospitals, laboratories, and schools to cite some, wherever mercury is stored, handled, and can potentially be spilled.

The mercury spill kit includes 10 mercury encapsulating powder in 10 gm sachets each. The powder turns the spilled mercury into a solidified mass when mixed with water.

The responder can then efficiently and quickly retrieve the spill and dispose of it accordingly and safely with the use of the included plastic scoop and pan for easy placement into the included disposal bag.

Also included in the kit are safety gear such as PVC gloves, face masks, and goggles to keep responders safe. The spill kit also include labels and operating instructions.

Our mercury spill kit is supplied in a 10 litre white pail with a snap-on lid. The contents of this spill kit can be customised by adding, removing, swapping components based on your particular needs.

Cytotoxic Spill Kit

Cytotoxic drugs are widely used in the treatment of cancers as well as other diseases. Cytotoxic drugs are sometimes also known as antineoplastics, describes a group of medicines that are toxic to cells, which prevents their replication or growth. The toxicity of cytotoxic drugs presents a significant risk to those who handle them.

WSSA’s Cytotoxic Chemical Spill Kit is specially designed for the control of spills where cytotoxic drugs are prepared. This Cytotoxic Spill Kit is effective in containing chemical and body fluid clean-up.

Our Cytotoxic Spill Kit is suitable for use in healthcare facilities, hospitals, veterinary clinics, and all other areas that need to use these drugs in their everyday operations.

This portable cytotoxic chemical spill kit is supplied in a sealed prepacked box that contains the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for personnel and spill responders who need to address spills immediately and safely.

Mercury Spill Kit with Mercsorb Amalgamation Powder

One of the key reason why it is important to immediately clean up mercury spills is the risk of inhalation. This is due to the fact that mercury vaporises at room temperature. The risk in handling the heavy, silvery-white liquid metal increases as the ambient temperature rises.

This mercury spill kit comes with 500 grams of Mercsorb amalgamation powder, which turns the spilled mercury into a solidified mass when mixed with water. This makes it easy for the responder to efficiently and quickly retrieve the spill and dispose of it accordingly. Included in the kit is a plastic scoop and pan to lift and place the solidified spill into the included disposal bags.

Included in our Mercury Spill Kit With Mercsorb Amalgamation Powder are safety gear such as nitrile gloves, Hazguard coveralls, face masks with respirator and a pair of filters, and clear and unvented goggles.

Also included in the kit are instructions on how to properly clean up mercury spills. Included are labels and operating instructions. The contents of this Mercury Spill Kit can be customised by adding, removing, swapping components based on your needs.

WSSA’s Mercury Spill Kit with Mercsorb comes supplied in a 20 litre white pail with a snap-on lid.

Do note that the absorbent capacity of the kits will vary depending on liquid viscosity, specific gravity and temperature. In addition, spill kits are available in a wide range of sizes and types to ensure the most appropriate spill kit is always available to minimise risk and meet environmental obligations.

Tailgate Delivery Terms and Conditions

Any additional handling or manoeuvring to get the items in to position that requires specialised equipment, such as a tailgated truck or a truck mounted forklift, is not covered by any free freight offers.

For those who are new to freight, a tailgate truck (also known as a tail-lift truck or hydraulic truck) has a rear platform which can be lowered to the ground for convenience when unloading heavy goods.  This is a requirement for unloading freight over 30kg when a forklift is not available on site to unload the delivery vehicle.  Carriers class this as a specialised delivery service, and charge a premium for tailgate deliveries.

Tailgate delivery is to the front door, carport, or closest practical delivery point as deemed by the driver. There must be reasonable vehicle access with height clearance.

Tailgate shipping adds an extra $135 + gst to shipping fees during checkout to cover costs.

NOTE: Selecting the WRONG answer in regards to tailgate shipping means the carrier may be unable to unload your items and may need to re-deliver it.  The Customer will be liable for any further charges for re-delivery should this occur.  Should you have questions or if you are unsure please contact us first.
